2015 Democrats and Citizen of the Year – Dinner Sept 2nd

The Glastonbury Democratic Town Committee Chair, Charlie Murray, has announced the names of the 2015 Democrats of the Year and Citizen of the Year.   In making the announcement, Murray stated that this year the Democrats are honoring four individuals who have and continue to serve their Neighbors, each in a different way.   These four represent all of those who serve our Town and make it a very special place to live and work..

Bobby DiBella has been named Democrat of the Year.   Bobby has been part of the Democratic Town Committee for over 50 years and is our Town’s Director of Emergency Management.   He has many roles in Town including over 16 years as a Chamber Ambassador and participates in the Town Center Initiative.

Tom Gullotta has been named Democrat of the Year.   Tom was elected twice to the Board of Education and twice to the Town Council in the 1980s. He returned to public service in 2011 with his reelection to the Town Council a position that he holds today. He also has served as President of the Glastonbury Land Heritage Coalition.

Bob Zanlungo has been named Democrat of the Year.   Bob has been a Town Councilman, served as Democratic Town Chairman, was a former Chamber Ambassador and President of the Rotary.   Recently named by the Hartford Business Journal as one the “40 under Forty” in young professionals in Greater Hartford.

Chris Gullotta has been named Citizen of the Year. Chris Gullotta started the Creative Experiences program at Glastonbury Youth and Family Services 40 years ago and retired from that position this year. It is estimated that this program has annual served 1,200 families. Chris has been recognized as a leader for prevention programming in Connecticut. She has published several articles in respected journals and books discussing how the arts can be used to promote social competency.

Keynote Speaker

Morna A. Murray, J.D., Commissioner will be the keynote speaker for this event.  Ms. Murray is Commissioner of the State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services.  She is leading advocate for children, adults, and families in the areas of developmental disabilities, health care, behavioral health, early childhood, and child and family well-being. She is a graduate of the George Washington University National Law Center and is a member of the CT, DC and FL Bar associations.
