Larry Niland, Town Council

I wish to be able to give back to the community that has been my home for the past 20 years, and to help in making it a continually growing and vibrant community not only for ourselves, but for generations to come. I will use my 25 years of municipal experience to be sure that we use our limited tax dollars as wisely as possible, and my technical experience to ensure that we reap the full benefits of our technology investments. Please feel free to contact me at 860-659-4773 or email

Shortly after we were married over 20 years ago, my wife and I moved to Glastonbury to make our home. My wife’s grandparents and father lived here for many years before us, and we knew it was where we wanted to make our home. We are happy to be bringing up our two boys here, watching them work their way through our exceptional school system, and we feel fortunate to live in such a wonderful town. I have coached their little league and soccer teams from when they first started playing and I enjoy being part of this community, and I’m especially grateful for the outstanding parks and open space that we are able to enjoy.
For the past 25 years I have worked for the Town of West Hartford as an Information Technology Specialist, specifically within the West Hartford Police Department. Working there has given me great insight into the daily workings of town government and has well prepared me for a position on the Town Council.
Before working for the Town of West Hartford, I was a software engineer for a small Department of Defense subcontractor, working as software engineer. Prior to that I earned my Computer Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University. While at Penn State, I was heavily involved in student government, elected as a Senator and also a department director.
I look forward to working on the Town Council, to making wise use of our limited tax dollars, and keeping Glastonbury a community of which we can all be proud.
